On packing light, and the difference between a burden and a load

There is a hill outside of Redondela where people leave things behind. Not dramatically. A jar of cream. A second pair of jeans. A book someone meant to read.
A burden and a load are not the same
A load is what the work requires. A burden is what you added out of fear.
Most of us are not tired from following Jesus. We are tired from carrying things He never handed us.
The strange arithmetic of the road is that you go further with less, and you arrive more yourself.

Matthew 11:29-30
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Jesus does not promise an empty back. He promises a load that fits.
